Wushu Ireland is the IMAC advisory board for the Chinese Martial Arts including Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Wing Tsun and Lau Gar.
History
● Wushu Ireland was founded on 1 October 2012. It was recognised by IMAC (Irish Martial Arts Commission) and Sport Ireland as the advisory board for the Chinese Martial Arts in Ireland, in the same year..
● The Wushu constitution (came into effect from 1 October 2012) details the democratic processes that set out the Organisational structure and create an operational structure in order for Wushu Ireland to fulfil its functions and responsibilities as stipulated in the IMAC Operational Framework.
● The members of the Wushu committee meet on a monthly basis for the executive meetings, and at least once a year for the AGM (Annual General Meeting).
Our Objectives
● Represent the interests of the Wushu Ireland registered and affiliated membership within the structures and brief of IMAC.
● Develop and promote a high standard of Kung Fu / Wushu /Tai Chi Chuan and other Chinese Martial Arts practice in Ireland, at Club, Organisational, Regional and National levels.
● Develop and promote Wushu Ireland as a quality mark for Kung Fu / Wushu / Tai Chi Chuan and other Chinese Martial Arts and related Martial Arts Systems in Ireland.
● Promote Chinese martial arts in Ireland.
● Establish effective communication structures with identified clubs and organisations with an interest in joining Wushu Ireland with a view to expanding the membership of Wushu Ireland.
● Wushu Ireland to be identifiable and recognizable quality mark as setting the gold standard in the Irish martial arts community.
● Development of national and regional events, such as tournaments to bring together the Chinese martial arts community in Ireland.
How we help clubs
● Train coaches under IMAC/Sport Ireland affiliated programmes.
● Represent them at the highest level in Sports in Ireland.
● Lobby for improvements to our sport/ martial art.
● Obtain grant funding for clubs.
● Enable clubs to attend official International Wushu Federation Tournaments.
● Vetting instructors.
● Providing a framework for safeguarding children in our clubs.
● Ensure all clubs are first aid trained,
● Ensure all clubs have adequate insurance.
